Review Meeting

UNDP Annual Programme Review Meeting successfully ended
on Wednesday 25th April at the Corinthia Atlantic Hotel.
The APRM provides a forum to review the previous year’s
Results and together with Government endorse the key areas
and targets for programme intervention in 2008. the Secretary
General was represented by Honorable Sallah.The meeting
was chaired by The Permanent Secretary Office of The President
Mr. Ebrima Camara.

The Global Human Development Report on the theme Fighting
Climate Change: Human Solidarity in a Divided World, and
the Youth Human Development Report 2006 was launched in
the Gambia on the 25th March 2007 by Her Excellency, Ajaratou

The Gambia recently produced its second Poverty Reduction
Strategy Paper (PRSP II, covering the period 2007
to 2011. The PRSP espouses the Gambia’s development
priorities and strategies for the medium term, and
is firmly anchored within the goals, targets and indicators
of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The PRSP

Introduction:The workshop was held coinciding with
a transition period in two areas, i) the inception
of a new programming cycle (2007 – 2011) and/or
the commencement of a number of new projects based
on the Country Programme Document (CPD) and the Country
Programme Action Plan (CPAP), ii) recruitment of UNDP
and project staffs in response to the outcome of a
recent re-profiling exercise and approval of new projects
respectively. These two major developments called
for an orientation workshop for the new staff with
a view to put every body on the foundation for improved
project planning and management.
